On the “Replenishment” of Israel’s Iron Dome
The United States House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a whopping $1 billion for an element of the military operations of Israel.
Despite many understanding the two-party system in the United States as both the Democrats and the Republicans being completely opposed to each other surrounding all sorts of different policies, this could not be further from reality. This is especially true when discussing the prospect of either conducting or supporting military operations abroad. The House approved a new bill that grants $1 billion towards the so-called “replenishment” of Israel’s Iron Dome defence system.
When both parties are confronted with the various questions surrounding Israel’s military operations, there is strong bipartisan support for aiding the country via all possible avenues. Israel has been routinely denounced for its practice of apartheid against Palestinians, the continuously growing size of its colonial acquisitions (such as the Golan Heights in Syria), and more.
The vote that was conducted on September 23, 2021, was passed staggeringly, with a colossal 420 members voting in favour of the bill, 9 voting against it, and 2 voting “present”. Missing from the “no” category was core member of the…
